Venustiano Carranza was born December 29th 1859 in Four Ciénegas in the state of Coahuila.

He attended his first studies in his native state, in 1874 he studied in the Preparatory National School in the City of Mexico, but he has to return to his native state to administer the businesses of his family , who were proprietors of several farms.

He got to have a great political activity. At the 28 years old he got to be municipal president of his state, soon he was delegated and immediately senator of the republic and temporary governor of his native state.

When the movement against the dictatorship of Porfirio Diaz arose in México, Venustiano Carranza decided to be united to this and manages to be named Marine Secretary Military and in the provisional cabinet of Francisco I. Madero. When Madero assumes the presidency, Venustiano Carranza is elect governor of Coahuila.

In February 1913 Francisco I. Madero is assassinated and the Victorian Huerta usurped the power. Carranza and other revolutionary leaders proclaims the "Plan de Guadalupe", in which the government of Huerta is unknown.

The concept that Venustiano Carranza had of the revolutionary movement was not shared by other leaders like: Emiliano Zapata and Francisco Villa, who became opponents of Carranza.

On February 5th 1917 is promulgated a new constitution, which was created by initiative of Carranza, which summoned a Constituent Congress.

With a constitutional frame, the elections are carried out, in which Venustiano Carranza is chosen president of the republic May 1st 1917.

In the year of 1920 a rebellion break out in the Sonora state, since the government of Carranza invades the sovereignty of this state and several military rise in arms against Venustiano Carranza, among them Alvaro Obregón, old official of Carranza.

During this rebellion, Carranza dies assassinated in Tlaxcaltongo in the state of Puebla the May 21st 1920.
